Hello friends! Have you enthusiastically started your new blog on BlogSpot (Blogger)? You’ve chosen a great theme for it and contributed 4-5 articles on it, but when you check the stats, you only find 0 or 10 views?
“New bloggers think it's not possible to bring traffic to Blogspot blogs because it's not WordPress."
But it's all about misconception here. It's not true at all. If you're producing quality content and your SEO strategy is perfect, then you can easily rank on the first page of Google with your free domain (.blogspot.com)!
In today's post, I - Aniket Shukla - will guide you on how to drive traffic to your new Blogspot blog. The ideas I'll share with you are not hypothetical; rather, they'll actually work in 2026 too! So, let's transform your blog from ‘Ghost Town’ to ‘Traffic Hub’!
Chapter 1: First, understand your 'Niche' and 'Keywords'
1. Niche Clarity
For example, my blog, "The DevMarketer," is all about web development and digital marketing. So, being specific about that, I write about that. After writing about that topic 20-30 times, I become an expert about that (this is actually called Topic Authority).
2. Keyword Research (Choosing the Right Words)
Suppose instead we wanted to talk about SEO.
Wrong keyword: "SEO Tips" (big websites already rank on this, you'll get lost).
Wrong keyword (Long Tail): "How to set up SEO for Blogspot blog in Hindi."
New blogs should always use long-tail keywords because they have low traffic but zero competition. If you manage to rank for only 10 long-tail keywords, you will definitely get a traffic of 1,000 to 2,000 per month.
Chapter 2: Content is King (But What Kind of Content?)
1. Writing Human-First Content
Use "I" and "You": Like I'm saying right now—"I'll tell you...".
Stories: I often share my coding or marketing mistakes so you guys can connect.
2. Skimmable Content (Easy to Read)
I write short paragraphs (2-3 lines maximum).
I use bullet points (like I'm doing here).
I include a subheading (H2, H3) after every 150 words.
I bold important lines.
3. Length Matters
In 2026, 300-word articles don't rank. I try to keep each article at least 1,000 to 1,500 words long, so readers can get the full information (A to Z) right there.
Chapter 3: On-Page SEO (Blogspot Settings)
1. Post Title Optimization
Boring: "SEO Guide for Blogger"
Clickable: "Blogspot SEO Settings: Increase Traffic in 5 Minutes (2026 Guide)"
Note: I always put my main keyword at the beginning of the title.
2. Cleaning up the permalink (URL)
Blogspot automatically creates long and messy URLs. So, before publishing a post, I go to the 'Permalink' option on the right and select 'Custom Permalink'.
Bad URL:
thedevmarketer.blogspot.com/2026/02/blog-par-traffic-kaise-laye-full-guide-hindi-me.htmlGood URL: how-to-increase-blogspot-traffic-seo-guide
.html
Tip: I never use Hindi words (Hinglish) in the URL, I only use English keywords.
3. Images and Alt Text
I click on the image > Settings (Gear icon) > enter my keyword in Alt Text. This makes my images appear in Google Images search, and I get traffic from there as well.
4. Internal Linking (Linking to your own pages)
For example, if I have previously written a post on "Web Development", and it is being mentioned in the new post, then I definitely link to it.
Chapter 4: Technical SEO (Waking Up Google)
1. Google Search Console (GSC)
This is the most important tool for me. I've submitted my blog's URL to Google Search Console. Every time I write a new post, I enter the URL into the 'URL Inspection' tool and request indexing. This allows Google to index my article within a few hours.
2. Submitting a Sitemap
I never forget to submit a sitemap to GSC. It's very easy for Blogspot. You just need to type sitemap.xml before your domain.
3. Custom Domain (A Small Investment)
I know we're talking "free," but if possible, definitely purchase a custom domain (.com or .in).
Chapter 5: Off-Page SEO and Promotion (Driving Traffic)
Initially, it takes 3-6 months for organic traffic from Google to start coming in. Until then, I don't sit idle. I drive traffic myself.
1. Quora and Reddit Marketing
I don't spam links in Facebook groups. Instead, I go to Quora. I search for questions related to my topic there. For example, "How to learn digital marketing?" I write a good answer and include a link to my blog at the end. This traffic is the highest quality.
2. LinkedIn (for professionals)
Since I'm a developer, LinkedIn is a goldmine for me. I don't share links to my posts directly there. I write three key takeaways from the article in the post and include the link in the comments. This trick works great.
Chapter 6: Consistency and Patience (The Secret Sauce)
My challenge to you: Just like I'm doing, write at least two high-quality posts per week for the next 60 days. Don't worry about views. Check your GSC report after 60 days—the graph will be going up!
Conclusion
Now, driving traffic on Blogspot might be tricky, but it is not impossible. The methods I, Aniket Shukla, shared with you today—keyword research, quality content, and on-page SEO—are what I use personally at The DevMarketer.
